Hallo all. Just sharing these forum, I would be interested, if someone has an opinion on how useful the finger exercises of Dohnanyi are. Ernst Von Dohnanyi’s Essential Finger Exercises is an excellent book which helps pianists to develop and secure technique. (Z) en-GB. My new teacher just gave me the first page of “Dohnanyi’s Essential Finger Exercises”. Boy, are they challenging. Of course, I like a challenge.

I personally think these “finger strength” exercises actually gain finger strength by default, but what you are actually working is finger control more than anything? I thought I was pretty decent with dihnanyi fingering until I started these. Playing an instrument is also a physical task that involves harnessing brain impulses.
